Arson in Gananoque August 31, 2008

This week Crime Stoppers and the Gananoque Police Service are asking for your assistance in solving an arson which occurred on Sunday August 31st, 2008 in the Town of Gananoque.

At approximately 1:15 in the morning, unknown persons attended the residence located at 268 Stone Street North and gained entry through a north side door. Once inside, the culprits moved various items in the house, in an attempt to steal them.

Investigators believe that the persons responsible set the house on fire in an attempt to destroy the house. Evidence at the fire would support that the fire started from inside the residence.

When fire services arrived, the structure was totally engulfed in flames and no one was home at the time of the fire. The residence received extensive damage and the family lost everything that was inside the home. This thoughtless act resulted in fire damage estimated to be in excess of $180,000.
