Arson at 268 Stone Street N, Gananoque

On Sunday August 31, 2008 at approximately 1:15 AM the Gananoque Police and Gananoque Fire Service received 4 911 calls advising that the residence at 268 Stone Street North in the Town of Gananoque was on fire.

Officers from both services responded to the residence and found the structure to be totally engulfed in flames. Adjacent residences were evacuated. No one was home at the time of the fire. The residence received extensive damage and the family lost everything that was inside. The outbuilding a garage was not damaged in the fire. The residence had been up For Sale by the owner for a period of time.

The Fire Marshall was called in to investigate. The fire is being investigated as suspicious. The investigation revealed that entry to the residence may have been gained through a north door and possessions of the homeowner were displaced in the residence. It is believed the fire started inside the residence. Damage is estimated at $180,000.
